In this course, students will read and react to various literary genres, such as fiction, drama, and poetry, in an effort to analyze and then emulate the traits of good writing. Students will be expected to create original works and participate in classroom discussions, both orally and in writing. Students should expect to both critique and be critiqued by other students as part of the learning process.
Students will write using several different formats, including essays, fiction, literary analyses, and poems.
Students will receive at least one grade per week, with a major exam at the end of each nine weeks covering material from the current nine week period. Classroom participation is a major component of the grading criteria for this class.
Students are expected to complete work in a timely manner and exhibit the highest degree of academic honesty and effort.
School policy will be followed in regard to electronics.
Students are to maintain order and follow decorum at all times.
