Grades are given on points earned and will be determined by the following activities:

  1. Written assignments, worksheets, and bell work journals
  2. Labs and demonstrations
  3. Tests
  4. Class participation

Class Rules:

In order to have an enjoyable and productive year the following rules will be followed by all students. Students are also expected to follow all rules as stated in the Silo School’s Handbook.

  1. Be prepared for class. Bring textbook, notebook, and writing utensil everyday.
  2. Be in your seat with all supplies by the time the bell rings. A tardy will be issued if student is late for class without a note from another teacher or the office.
  3. Act in a professional manner at all times.
  4. Be respectful to everyone. I will not tolerate rudeness to myself or other students.  I also expect all students to respect our classroom and school property.
  5. Foods, drinks, or candy are NOT allowed in the classroom unless it is a class project.
  6. Students will remain in the classroom area unless given permission to work in the kitchen or sewing areas.
  7. No cheating will be tolerated.
  8. Teacher will not accept late assignments for full credit. They may be turned in up to one week late with points being deducted for each day that the assignment is late.
  9. When students are absent, it is the student’s responsibility to     ask what needs to be made up.
  10. Tests will always be scheduled in advance. If you are absent the day of the test, you will need to take the test within two days upon your return to class.

Supplies Needed:

They will be required to bring notebook paper and a writing utensil to class daily. Other supplies maybe needed throughout the year. I will inform the students in advance of any special supplies that maybe needed.

Family Career and Community Leaders of America:

All students enrolled in a Family and Consumer Sciences class will have the opportunity to join the organization.   Membership dues will be $15.00. This will pay for local, district, state, and national dues.

FCCLA members will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities that will promote leadership and community service. I highly encourage all of my students to participate in FCCLA. As alumni of this organization, I have benefited first hand from the many opportunities that FCCLA provides. I hope you and your child will consider their active participation in FCCLA.

By knowing what is expected by all students, I feel that we can prevent many problems before they arise. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me. I am very excited about this year and expect great things!
