Why Study MUSIC?

Music uses your imagination and allows you to be creative. It is a great outlet for communication.
Studying music helps you become self-disciplined and can help you build skill and confidence.
Music uses math skills, such as fractions and counting, which can lead to higher math achievement and better geometric reasoning. Studying & playing Music helps you to succeed in other school subjects, such as language, social studies and foreign languages.
Students who study Music score higher on standardized tests!!
Arts Education can improve skills such as: attentiveness, persistence, vision and engagement.
Listening to the music of Mozart while studying can help retain information!
Silo students must have 2 Fine Arts credits to graduate.
(Only 1 credit is required for college bound students)
Several Silo graduates have been awarded music scholarships.
Choir students may also participate in other school activities including athletics, cheerleading, FFA, FACS, Academic Team, Beta, 4-H, FCA, etc.
